It’s summertime … and that means open air Shakespeare. I could spend every night seeing something or other in the open air around my part of Kent. But while my cultural experience would grow so would my ever-expanding waistline with the champagne, quails’ eggs dipped in hollandaise sauce and canapes that fill my picnic hamper.

My top tip always goes to The Changeling Theatre Company which specialises in touring Shakespeare. The company is performing a typically innovative production of The Comedy of Errors at a wide range of beautiful locations in the garden of England until August 7.

Directed again this year by Rob Forknall, the play is set in Morocco in the early decades of the Twentieth Century. Dougal Irvine has created a brilliant score and the cast is led by Jake Hendriks, who’s best known for playing the role of gay priest Father Kieron in the soap opera Hollyoaks.

Holly what?
