A Riot of our Own, Night and Day with The Clash

Audiobook published  by Talking Music

THIS book about the Clash, which became a cult classic 15 years ago, has been given a new lease of life, writes Claire Stevens. A Riot of Our Own, Night and Day with The  Clash by Johnny Green and  Garry Barker has just come  out as an audiobook, read  by Quardrophenia and  EastEnders star Phil Daniels. The book, which tells the  rock ‘n’ roll rollercoaster story  of the punk rock group in  the 1970s, was first published  in 1997. Johnny Green was  road manager and one of  the band’s inner circle from  the first single White Riot,  through to the classic album  London Calling, and tells of  the band’s ups and downs,  lows and highs, including  epic tours of America. The pair met at school  but 10 years apart, met at  cricket, and the idea of the  book was born.  The audiobook, published  by Talking Music, is described  as ‘a rip-roaring account from  inside the Clash camp as they  turned passion and guitars  into songs that electrified a generation. An intimate  and very funny listen’. It is available, priced  Review by £12, from talkingmusic.com
